Mash Ups With Ableton Live 8

So a couple of years ago I was lucky enough to win a full copy of Ableton Live 8 Studio in a competition run by Computer Music magazine.  A fantastic prize, worth about £800 in total.  The problem was my Dell laptop was not up to the job of running it, so after a few frustrating months of dabbling with music creation, it got parked on a shelf and gathered dust.

Here Comes Your Man

I started learning a new song yesterday, "Here comes your man" by the Pixies.  It's a great song and like most good songs (at least to these ears) it is a very simple song with just one key (D Major), a nice riff that underpins the song, four or five chords only and some nice chord progressions.  The chords are almost like circle of fifths style progressions (D, A, Em then G) although it would need to be (G,D,A,Em) to be properly circle of fifths.

Getting my head around Drupal 7 Development

Been up to my tonsils in Drupal 7 development, mainly using this book.  Having mixed feelings about the book (worked examples not working and differing to the downloaded code to go with the series - without anything to flag this) but am slowly getting my head around D7 development I think. It's very feature rich, which adds to the complexity and hence the learing curve, but the positive flip side to this is that it means pretty much every thing I am hoping to do with it is doable.

new Drupal7 site configured

Now that the Drupal moderators have added a Twitter module to the list of available modules (albeit in development mode only) I thought it was high time I got myself a working Drupal 7 site.
